SOPHIE

The self-titled second album from the visionary artist, producer and pop pioneer, was announced by Transgressive and Future Classic in September.

This album was created by SOPHIE and some of her most cherished collaborators. Close to completion when she tragically died, it has been lovingly finalised by those who hold her closest. As SOPHIE’s studio manager and most trusted sounding board for over a decade, Benny Long was heavily involved in the release of “Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-insides”, with mastering, production and mixing credits to his name. The two then worked together over several years developing the concept and production of this follow-up album, which Benny has lovingly completed, honouring SOPHIE’s vision.

Three vinyl editions and a CD format were available to pre-order from the SOPHIE Ochre store. Including a store exclusive double transparent neon pink format.

The next instalment in the Disco Pogo tribute series of books is the legendary electronic artist Aphex Twin.

This follows the hugely successful Disco Pogo Tribute to Daft Punk. Like Daft Punk, the people behind Disco Pogo have had a long-standing relationship with Richard D. James for over 30 years via their 90s magazine Jockey Slut.

Edited by Disco Pogo editor Jim Butler, the book features interviews, essays and features from the best music journalists working today.

The book also features an iconic cover portrait of Aphex by seminal photographer Wolfgang Tillmans, plus a huge amount of great photography of Richard since the very beginning from some of the best music photographers in the world.

The book is hardback, 250 plus pages and is beautifully designed and printed of course.

Rough Trade and 4AD Merchandise

And finally, we love seeing label branded merchandise being created and so were happy to see both Rough Trade and 4AD drop a new range of merch recently.

Rough Trade launched the inaugural Rough Trade Records merch on their Ochre powered label store with oversized black tees, orange shopper totes and forest green caps featuring the iconic Rough Trade logo.

A bundling mechanic was created to include the option for customers to add their choice of a 2024 vinyl release with their tote, which was a nice touch! Customers could choose between Sleaford Mods “Divide and Exit (10th Anniversary)”, Lankum “Live in Dublin”, Goat Girl “Below The Waste”, This Is The Kit “Live at the Minack Theatre” or Gruff Rhys “Sadness Sets Me Free”. 4AD shared their first official collection of label-dedicated merchandise, available exclusively in an extremely limited one-time drop on the 4AD webstore. The first drop is a collection of apparel designed by London-based artist Ross Paul McEwan. Graphics throughout the line feature the classic 4AD logo, in addition to a swan emblem and phrases ‘Pleasures & Treasures, Deep below the surface.’ This calls back to McEwan’s design work on 4AD’s 2022 compilation, Pleasures & Treasures, a Japan-only double-CD of classic and hard-to-find tracks that span the label’s forty-plus years.
